What do these things have in common, you might ask?  In this new year, these are last year's trends that are wearing out their stylishness meaning soon they will be out of style. I know, it is hard to keep up with "in versus out" trends. But a trend is a temporary fashion statement, not the classic pieces we own and should update regularly.  I'm a bit sad about several of these trends going "out," because I own several of them now.  Just get ready to pack them away and let's look at the newest ones on the horizon (you can get a jump start and wear these now, if you like any of them !).

1.  Striped shirts are the new solids...

I found lovely ones at Old Navy, Target and Marshall's and didn't pay more than $20 per.  Go buy a couple and find out how to mix and match them. Here are a few fun ideas:

2.  White on white.  This one can be tricky because you don't want to dress like you work in a doctor's office.  But if you do it right, you'll be on top of the trends.

3.  Mixing your necklaces to make stylish statements.  Take a choker necklace and then pile on some pendant necklaces.  Wear different metals.  Mix your stones.

4.  Turtlenecks under those plaid shirts. Very on trend and something you can wear right now to keep warm. Look at yourself layering and looking fabulous.

5. Colorful coats to bring some zing til Spring.  Depending on the fabric and thickness, you can wear some coats til mid Spring.  Try adding some color in your wardrobe, especially over black.

6.  Don't forget that shoes can also add color and zip to your wardrobe.  So easy to buy and wear and they don't have to cost a lot.

7.  Dramatic earrings are hot right now. Don't spend a fortune (remember this is a trend) and go to Stein Mart, Bealls Outlet or local boutiques for some fun bling.

Have fun with your style and stay true to what is you.  You needn't buy into the trends but I wanted you to know how you can update your closet and have people notice the fashionista in you.

Here's a quote to end this post appropriately.
Fashion is always of the time in which you live. It is not something standing alone. But the grand problem, the most important problem, is to rejuvenate women. To make women look young. Then their outlook changes. They feel more joyous.

Until next week, I remain,

Stylistically yours,

Sooz
