Let's "Face" It!

The end of a year means a new year arrives full of promise, hope and, sometimes, resolutions.

I've made mine already and decided not to wait until the next year to begin them. One of them is going to the gym more times weekly than in the past. Wish me luck on that one!
Another is to change up my blog. I got a new cell phone with a better camera, so I'm going to try to shoot some of my clothing get ups...available for critiques, feedback and ideas. Wish me luck on that, too!

Today's post is about some great face products I have found that work well for women "of a certain age" and they aren't expensive or hard to find.

Every morning and every night, this is awesome stuff:  L'Oreal's Age Perfect Cell Renewal Golden Serum. Then I add L'Oreal's Age Perfect Hydra-Nutrition Glow Renewal Cream. Neither are sticky, instead they melt into your skin. I like how it smells (clean), how it makes my skin feel (soft) and keeps wrinkles at bay. They're about $25 each - cheaper than high end stuff and works very well for maintaining a soft skin with blurred wrinkles.A friend told me about this stuff, I did my research on various reviews from other users and was totally sold.  You can buy this at any drug store.

I love a face primer. Some days I don't even wear foundation because primer with some loose powder patted on works nicely. I still get a shiny face and primer prevents that while holding onto the powder and making my skin look clear and smooth. My favorite primer is by Bare Minerals called Prime Time. It was under $30 but there are several others that are not as pricey. L'Oreal has a little pot with white primer in it...good stuff. Cover Girl has one in a compact form that is often on sale or has coupons at your local drug store. Try a primer and see if you like it, too.

As we get older, our eyebrows either get bushy and wiry (think Andy Rooney) or thin and pale. Mine are the latter and I have tried several items, from pricey to not so much, and I absolutely love elf's Eyebrow Kit in Medium. There's a double ended brush...one angled one for applying the tinted powder and a flat end one for the tinted wax to coat. This stuff is really awesome and only $3. I buy mine at Target.

I also keep a small compact of elf's Clarifying Pressed Powder in Ivory shade in my purse. It is great at blotting the shine without leaving a lot of powder on my nose. $2 at Target!

My favorite eye shadows are the Urban Decay's Naked Basics' kit. Basics is only $25 at make up stores. The bigger kit is $52 but the smaller kit works great and has colors that I use daily. Maybelline and other make ups have their own Nudes, etc. But I really like Urban Decay's for color choices and wearability.

And for a little dewiness on my cheekbones, elf's Persimmon stick of blush is wonderful and only $1. Whenever I wear this, I get compliments on how nice I look. I seriously believe it is this product.

Mascaras and lipsticks vary according to what you are trying to achieve. I won't tell you much about them but remember that our eyes are a focal point and we smile when we're happy. People pay attention to both so "dress" them well.

And don't forget to take it all off before you go to bed. I found a great package of Skincare Cosmetics Anti-Aging Cleansing Towelettes for $3.99 at Marshall's. It contains 30 pre-moistened clothes that are retinol and vitamin enriched. They help clean your face, tones and removes make up and they smell terrific. I will be looking for more of these!

So with a new year looming, make one promise....to take care of yourself, get all your medical appointments done, eat healthy and drink a LOT of water (so good for your skin). And spread the love and care that you have within you to others with joy!

Until next year, I remain,

Stylistically yours,

Sooz

Dressing for Festivities!

This is the time of year when we get to dress festively...maybe the only time.

So I want to share with you, dear friends, how many varieties of options we have.

I am partial to bling. I love sequins, beads, glitter and sparkles.

I took a black sweater with 3/4 length sleeves and added gold sequin border around the cuffs and neckline. It looks terrific and was cheap and easy to do. There are so many colors of trim in the fabric stores, as well as festive ribbons. Check them out!

This is the year I bought a black sequined pencil skirt. I might wear this instead of my gold sequin pencil skirt (which I haven't worn yet)..choices to make!

I also have a black sequin tank top that I could wear as a vest with a white cotton shirt and black skinny pants.

And I have a silver lame' skirt that could be festive.

Or just wear a little black dress with a statement necklace.

I have two pretty red Calvin Klein sheaths but, sadly, they don't fit well right now (wait until next year!).

And I think whatever I wear, I will be wearing my new shoes from my sweet husband....

So look at your closet, dress with the happy holidays in mind and have a wonderful time with those you love to spend time and festivities with. Make yourself happy by making others happy.

I am thankful for your friendship and viewership.

Until next week, I remain,

Stylistically yours,

Sooz

P.S.  I didn't blog last week. I had to take a break but I'm back!  Thanks for understanding.
